The winter transfer window is always a time of significant speculation and possible major deals. Several notable footballers find themselves connected to transfers out of their present clubs. Here is a look at some of the key names who might be changing clubs this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the player available, it appears an important move is close. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a deal with a £65 million release clause applicable for a two-week window in early January. Latest developments indicate Manchester City are now the frontrunners for his services. Former suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to other targets, potentially opening the door for clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a last-minute move.

Marc Guéhi

The England defender has continued to impress for Palace this season a summer transfer to Anfield collapsing. As his contract set to run out in the summer, this represents the London club's last opportunity to secure a fee for their skipper. Numerous elite sides, such as Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. Yet, a January exit is considered unlikely, especially given the manager's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

This Welsh forward has had starting opportunities hard to come by at Spurs this term. Although finishing as the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, he has started only a small number of Premier League games. Reports suggest the North London club would be open to a sale for the right valuation, believed to be in the region of £40 million. Bournemouth are currently at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an interest.

Rúben Neves

This Portuguese playmaker might be poised for a comeback to the Premier League after a spell in Saudi Arabia. Still just 28, while his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he represents a possible bargain. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with the player. Furthermore, there are suggestions from Spain that he would be willing to take a reduced salary for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran Germany goalkeeper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona under the coach Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone an operation, a winter departure seems increasingly likely. Villa were initially mentioned as a possible destination, but that move currently seems off. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be showing interest in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

The prolific England striker has kept scoring regularly in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could enhance his fading hopes of making the England World Cup. However, securing a transfer presents significant challenges. Al-Ahli are reluctant to part with him, and his alleged huge weekly wages make any agreement difficult. Because of FIFA regulations regarding representing multiple teams in a season, a return to his parent club prior to next summer seems to be the sole viable solution.

K. Yildiz

The highly-rated Turkey forward is in fine form for Juventus this term. As his current contract running down, a host of Premier League clubs – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the developments. Juventus are desperate to secure the 20-year-old to a new long-term contract but face a battle to retain one of Europe's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

This much-admired Netherlands midfielder has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following starring at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. The 19-year-old is widely expected to make a big-money move in January. Newcastle United are believed to be frontrunners, but could face strong competition from Real Madrid for a signing valued at around £22 million.
